Using Keyfinder
- Navigate to the downloads page of the Kraken Designs website
- Download Keyfinder from this page
- Open once the download has completed and run Keyfinder, this should have your Windows Product Key information
Using Regedit
- Press the Windows Key + R, type "regedit" & hit Enter
- In the subsequent window, navigate through the following folders:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > Windows NT > CurrentVersion > SoftwareProtectionPlatform
- In the pane on the right-hand side should be "BackupProductKeyDefault". The value should be 5 sets of characters, this is the key.
- However the key might differ depending on how Windows was activated:
- Retail / OEM - Usually shows a full key
- Digital License - May show a generic key
- Volume / KMS - Will show a Generic Volume Key, not a real key
